IPPG Away Day 2026

IPPG Away Day 2026

Today, 23rd of April 2026, I spent time at the IPPG Away Day 2026 discussing what this moment demands of Nigeria’s Independent oil and gas operators.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms have made Nigeria the most attractive upstream destination for capital in Africa as stated in Wood Mackenzie Upstream Lens. Presidential executive orders unlocked IOC divestments, made deepwater competitive, and secured integrated investments that are reshaping the sector.

As a result, we have seen a reverse in the decline and secured FIDs to the tune of $10bn and future pipeline. Our production is now at ~1.6mbpd (from 1.2mbpd in 2022). Our indigenous operators now hold ~22% of Nigeria’s liquid resources.

To every operator, partner, and public servant who engaged today, thank you for leaning into a serious and necessary conversation. I look forward to continuing to work with you to achieve our target of 3.0mbpd by 2030, and deliver lasting value for Nigeria.
