On behalf of the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, it is my honor to deliver these remarks at today’s commissioning ceremony:
Today’s commissioning of this facility marks another important milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward achieving our energy transition goals.
The partnership between NASENI and Portland is a clear example of how the private sector plays a vital role in driving our nation’s economic growth and development. As a government, our role is to act as a catalyst, unlocking private sector expertise and capital to deliver meaningful results for the Nigerian people.
In September 2023, the Tinubu administration launched the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi). Six months later, we rolled out landmark presidential directives; including a competitive fiscal framework for non-associated gas to boost reliability of gas supply as well as targeted fiscal incentives to spur investment in midstream and downstream infrastructure, boosting the adoption of LPG, CNG, and mini-LNG, alongside expanding electric mobility
The progress we see today, including the commissioning of this new Autogas facility, has been made possible by these policies, incentives, and financing support of the Tinubu administration, fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Decade of Gas vision.
Gas will continue to be central to our industrialization ambitions. With Nigeria’s vast gas reserves, our strategy is to unlock this important resource to power mass transportation, electrification, manufacturing, and clean cooking.
We are tackling the challenges of gas supply head-on; leveraging technology, law enforcement, fiscal incentives, infrastructure investment, and community partnerships to ensure a steady flow of gas to transform the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigeria into truly better lives.
On this note, let me commend NASENI, under the leadership of the Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Khalil Halilu, for its strong support of the administration’s initiatives across multiple sectors. Your example sets the pace for other government institutions as we work together to deliver on President Tinubu’s transformational promises.
At the presidency, we remain committed to creating an enabling environment for energy investment in Nigeria.
This is how prosperity is built; one valve, one pipeline, one molecule of gas at a time. Nigeria’s future is bright, and this new autogas facility with its vehicle conversion facility, CNG filling station, training academy, and CNG generator showroom stands as proof of the opportunities ahead. We have no choice, we must seize them fully.
I thank you for your kind attention.
