Special Adviser to the President on Energy Joins Global Energy Leaders at ADIPEC 2025 - Abu Dhabi, November 12, 2025

Abu Dhabi, November 12, 2025 — The Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Mrs. Olu Verheijen, had a robust presence at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), engaging with global energy leaders on both Day 1 and Day 2 of the event.

On Day 1, Mrs. Verheijen participated in the OPEC Roundtable, a high-level forum where energy ministers and senior policymakers discussed market stability, oil production strategies, and long-term sectoral collaboration. Her contributions highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to responsible energy development, regional cooperation, and sustainable investment in the oil and gas sector.

On Day 2, she joined a ministerial panel titled “Incentivizing Sustainable Growth Through Government Energy Policies,” alongside H.E. Khalifa Abdulsadek, Minister of Oil and Gas, Government of National Unity, Libya; Hon. Cheikh Niane, Vice Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, Senegal; and H.E. Jimena Latorre, Minister of Energy and Environment, Government of Mendoza, Argentina. The session was moderated by renowned energy analyst John Defterios.

During the panel, Mrs. Verheijen outlined Nigeria’s energy reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing initiatives designed to attract investment, accelerate the energy transition, and support net-zero ambitions. She highlighted key directives aimed at enhancing sector efficiency, promoting cleaner energy adoption, and ensuring a stable and investor-friendly regulatory environment.

The discussions underscored how governments can design effective energy policies that balance energy security, sustainability, and economic growth, while providing incentives for private sector participation in both traditional and renewable energy markets.

ADIPEC 2025 continues to serve as a premier platform for global energy dialogue, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and investors to shape the future of energy development worldwide.
