The Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Olu Arowolo Verheijen, has been named in a special feature on “The women running Nigeria’s economy”.

In my own work across energy, investment and public policy, I have seen how much institutional progress depends on who is at the table — but also on whether they have the mandate, authority and determination to make difficult decisions and see them through. That is why representation matters.

Not simply because more women should be visible in positions of leadership, but because every woman entrusted with a consequential mandate expands our collective idea of who can lead, who can reform institutions, who can allocate capital, and who can shape the economic future of a country.
